Comment: (1) "9 till 5" teases during "People Say"
(2) "Red House" played with Brian on vocals and guitar, Russell on BASS, and George on the DRUMS. This "Red House" was red hot, with Russ taking a phat BASS solo, and Brian tearin' it up on the blues guitar. George did not take a drum solo. Art did not join in for this song.

05/03/03 (Sat)  New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Festival @ Fair Grounds Race Course (Acura Stage) - New Orleans, LA

Set 1: Soundcheck Jam > Funky Miracle > Let the Good Time Roll1 > world > Africa > Iko > Look Ka Py-Py > RussellFest > Cardova > Soul Island > Sesame Street3 > Soul Island > Ride The Donkey (4) (PoppaFest?) > PorterFest > Change Reform > RussellFest > Just Kissed My Baby6 > People Say7 > Ain't No Use (StoltzFest intro)
+ show original text

Comment: (1) New fUNKY style for the last few LTGTR, this was pretty long and Poppa Funk sounded great!
(2) George was having issues with his bass or wireless gear and had to swap all of his stuff in the middle of the show. He switched to his 'clean' bass. Russell had no problem passing the time
(3) It appeared that George "requested" this one and Art quickly played it once for him
(4) This is the music to Soul Island but with the lyrics "Ride The Don-key" in place of the normal lyrics. Art was having a funky GOOD time
(5) Ian Neville funked out on Reform, Just Kissed My Baby, and People Say
(6) Ivan Neville helped with the vocals (extra long, last verse sung twice!)
(7) Between People Say and Ain't No Use George made what must have been the 3rd bass swap of the set, but it didn't seem to affect much of his performance. At this point he grabbed old faithful and finished the set with it. The break provided some solo time for Stoltz to get narsty with Russ for a lengthy, mean Ain't No Use intro.

E: Art banter about Ian and Ivan > Art reminisces about "Mardi Gras Mambo" > Russ comes out and wishes the audience "Happy Jazzfest" > Bad Boys (Cops Theme) sung by Art > Art flashes back > Jungle Mix > Art wants to leave but rest of band wants to stay > Aint No Use tease by George > Hey Pocky A-Way8
+ show original text

Comment: time 1 hour 55 minutes
(1) Ian Neville (Art's son) joins on guitar and stays till the end of set. during the song, when it was extra extra funky, Art sings "Play the Funky Music White Boy" to Brian. Brian returns with the "one-finger salute." It was good fun
(2) Before launching into the intro jam, Art asks if anyone has a Lucky Dog hotdog for him. He seemed to be enjoying himself. The song was very jammy and trippy and the band was "on." serious crowd participation for the "Fiyo on the Bayou" chant
(3) Ivan Neville (Aaron's son) on vocals. During the jam, the band sings one-verse of "Let Me Have It All" (Brides of Jesus tune)
(4) You had to be there to fully understand this. listen to the tape
(5) Art shakes his cane at George for switching songs
(6) with "New Orleans" chanting by band and audience
(7) unknown slow song from the 50s?
(8) serious crowd participation
