Set 1: One Person Bump, Turn, Quitter, Red Light, Lie, Thankful, Livin, Dont' Stop, Breaking, I Am
Comment: Jonny played one of my favorite venues. It's an old theater type night club. It holds maybe 1400-1500, mostly standing (some seats in the balcony). I love it. I was right up front. Is there any other place to be? Even after standing at work for 9 hours, standing for a few more seemed well worth the effort. Right away it was clear Jonny's voice was giving him trouble. He coughed quite a bit. For the most part, the show didn't suffer. The back-up singer helped him out a lot, and sang "Livin' for the City" in its entirety (quite well too I should add). However, a few times, like during Turn Around towards the end when he sings really high "the choices you make" he missed it completely and I was a little bummed. Still a great show though, and Jonny didn't seem to feel sick at all. His guitar was on fire as usual and he was very energetic. The keyboard player... it wasn't Tommy. I think this has been discussed here already. He was OK, but didn't seem at the same level as Tommy or Charles. I miss Charles' playing and personality. Barry's drum solo was FANTASTIC! That guy is so amazing. Jimmy Anton always delivers as well. I got the set-list, and had to defend it almost to the point of violence. A woman actually reached her hand in to the pocket of my jeans while screaming at me "I need that! I'm writing a review!". It was so pathetic I laughed in her face, told her firmly "NO", and walked away. She kept after me but I got lost in the exiting crowd. Hilarious! "I Am" took a full 30 minutes and was the only encore song. It remains my favorite of the show. It is a great song to showcase all the solos. The funk of the bass and drums is fantastic! ~Mel
