Maņana is Now
(Art P. Brambila)

Despierta, mi bien despierta
That great myth is over
Maņana is now
Maņana is now

Dear Lord
For too many years we have toiled
In the fields of Northern California
For too long those crops have controlled us
Oh but we've worked on our knees too long
Yes we've been on our knees too long

Dear Lord
You know we thought we'd never win
With that political machine all around us
Our hopes were lost to the injustice that surrounds us
ntil that man, that brave brown man proved we can win!

Despierta, mi bien despierta
That great myth is over
Maņana is now
Maņana is now
Maņana is now
Maņana is now

Liner Notes From the CD:
Maņana is Now

This song is the contribution of the album's producer, Art Brambila. Art chose English to express his feelings in Maņana Is Now. We discussed the song and its meaning, and he made these observations:

The song was written in the form of a prayer - a girl praying to God, expressing the hopelessness she felt. In her prayer she is saying that hope was lost and that she and her people didn't know where to turn until that brave brown man proved that we can beat that political machine which surrounds us. That man is Cesar Chavez.
